Dr. John Gubatan studies how immune cells and the gut microbiome shape inflammatory bowel disease. His laboratory brings patient cohorts together with multi-omics, experimental models and machine learning to investigate mechanisms of inflammation and treatment response.

He received his medical degree from Harvard Medical School, completed internal medicine training at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School and trained in gastroenterology, translational immunology, and bioinformatics at Stanford University. He leads his laboratory at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida.
